In the current transition to smart cities/ homes the energy consumption will become lower. The installed energy capacity in the proposed location is about 5MW, will produce a surplus of energy that can be used in various night applications.
One of the applications that can use the energy available at night for lighting Piteşti-A1 highroad ring or a part of the highway E574 Pitesti - Craiova, or villages close to Bradu, Geamăna or Prundu neighborhood.
The highway lighting proposal is justified by several studies proving the link between nighttime visibility and the vehicles movement speed. It was found that the rate of accidents will significantly decrease since 25% of car accidents are during the night. Elvik study (1995) showed that after the public street lighting, the number of fatal accidents reduced by 65%, in total a decrease of 15-30% of accidents. Figure 12 shows a diagram for optimum night lighting.
For the Pitesti A1 highway belt was determined a length of about 6km, choosing the lighting system solution to be LED lamps, a modern solution with an increased lamp life and low power consumption. For this highway distance will use about 100 lamps, each having a power of 500W, which means a consumption of 50kWh. Because electricity is produced during the day and is stored in batteries buses, to be able to implement this solution a contract with the electricity supplier will be needed. This contract is based on supplying energy in the National Power Grid during the day and energy consumption from the National Power Grid during the nighttime lighting. This operation represents a clearing solution for the grid at night.
